Our Vetting Process

How we ensure every OpenClaw expert in our network has demonstrated, hands-on experience. No shortcuts, no exceptions.

01

Application Review

Every specialist who applies to join the OpenClaw Experts network must submit proof of real OpenClaw project work. We verify hands-on experience, not just theoretical knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Portfolio of OpenClaw projects (configs, skills, deployment examples)
  • Client references or testimonials from previous OpenClaw engagements
  • GitHub profile showing OpenClaw contributions or custom skills
  • LinkedIn profile with verifiable OpenClaw experience
  • skill.md files or ClawHub examples demonstrating skill development expertise

Outcome:

Applications without verifiable proof of hands-on OpenClaw work are rejected. We prioritize quality over quantity.

02

Technical Screen

Candidates who pass application review proceed to a live technical interview. This 60-90 minute session assesses OpenClaw architecture knowledge, problem-solving ability, and real-world troubleshooting skills.

Topics Covered:

  • OpenClaw architecture: Gateway, ClawHub, skills, MCP servers, and agent routing
  • Security best practices: API key management, skill permissions, access controls
  • ClawHub skill development: skill.md syntax, context management, tool calling
  • Troubleshooting scenarios: Debug setup issues, cost anomalies, integration failures
  • Platform knowledge: Docker, macOS, Linux setup and deployment patterns

Outcome:

Candidates must demonstrate deep technical knowledge and practical problem-solving ability. Surface-level understanding is insufficient.

03

Trial Engagement

Before full listing in the expert directory, candidates complete a supervised trial engagement with a real client (provided by OpenClaw Experts). We observe communication, deliverable quality, and professionalism.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Deliverable quality: Does the work meet professional standards? Is it production-ready?
  • Communication: Are updates proactive? Is technical jargon explained clearly?
  • Documentation: Are runbooks, READMEs, and setup guides comprehensive?
  • Timeline adherence: Are deadlines met? Are delays communicated proactively?
  • Client satisfaction: Does the client report a positive experience?

Outcome:

Candidates who fail the trial engagement are not listed in the directory. We maintain strict quality standards.

04

Ongoing Quality Monitoring

Vetting does not stop after listing. We continuously monitor expert performance through post-engagement reviews, client ratings, and periodic quality checks. Experts who fall below standards are removed.

Quality Metrics:

  • Client satisfaction scores: Post-engagement surveys rating communication, quality, and professionalism
  • Response time tracking: How quickly do experts respond to initial inquiries and follow-ups?
  • Completion rate: What percentage of engagements are completed successfully?
  • Repeat client rate: How often do clients return to the same expert for additional work?
  • Periodic re-vetting: Experts undergo technical re-assessment every 12-18 months

Outcome:

Experts with consistently low ratings or client complaints are removed from the network. Quality standards are non-negotiable.
